New research partnership aims to advance grid flexibility, digital energy systems and industrial decarbonisation. MUMBAI: Tata Power has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Imperial College London to explore research and technology collaboration across energy storage, grid flexibility, artificial intelligence (AI) and industrial decarbonisation. The partnership will combine Tata Power’s experience in developing and operating energy infrastructure with the UK university’s research expertise to develop solutions for more resilient, flexible and low-carbon energy systems. The collaboration will examine applications of AI and machine learning (ML) in energy, advanced energy systems and digital technologies, with an emphasis on translating research into practical industry applications. Tata Power CEO and Managing Director Praveer Sinha said future electricity grids, storage systems and digital energy technologies must work together to address changing energy demand. The initiative also aligns with India-UK Vision 2035, which identifies renewable energy, energy storage, grid transformation and AI as key areas for bilateral cooperation. UK Business and Trade Secretary Jonathan Reynolds said the partnership could help convert research into cleaner energy solutions while supporting employment and economic growth in both countries.
