Rajasthan Advances Digital Management of Distributed Renewable Energy.
DRE-PMT aims to improve grid visibility, strengthen distribution planning and support India’s growing renewable energy ecosystem.
India’s renewable energy transition is entering a new phase as distributed solar generation creates fresh challenges for electricity distribution and grid management. Rajasthan is addressing these issues through its Distributed Renewable Energy Projects Monitoring Tool (DRE-PMT), a digital initiative designed to improve visibility and coordination across decentralised energy resources. During FY26, distributed solar contributed approximately 16.3 GW, accounting for around 36% of India’s total solar capacity additions. Rajasthan, with more than 50 GW of installed renewable energy capacity, is witnessing rapid growth in rooftop solar, agricultural solarisation and small captive projects. Under PM-Surya Ghar, the state recorded over three lakh rooftop solar installations by September 2026.
Meanwhile, PM-KUSUM is supporting solar-powered agricultural electricity supply. As distributed generation expands, DRE-PMT can help utilities track installations, understand generation patterns and improve network planning. Better coordination and system visibility will be crucial to reducing renewable energy curtailment and ensuring reliable, efficient electricity distribution.
