UP, Japan Sign MoU to Boost Green Hydrogen Cooperation.

Technology partnerships, skills and investment could strengthen Uttar Pradesh’s emerging clean-energy ecosystem.

Uttar Pradesh and Japan have strengthened cooperation in green hydrogen with the exchange of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between UPNEDA and a Japanese delegation. The partnership aims to explore technology collaboration, capacity building, research and investment opportunities across the emerging clean-energy sector. Energy Minister AK Sharma welcomed Yamanashi Governor Kotaro Nagasaki at UPNEDA, where discussions focused on green hydrogen, renewable energy and clean technologies. The MoU is expected to create a framework for joint initiatives spanning clean-energy value chains, technology innovation and investment-ready projects. Japan’s technological expertise and Yamanashi’s innovation ecosystem could support Uttar Pradesh in developing a stronger green-hydrogen industry. The state has already established Centres of Excellence at IIT Kanpur and IIT-BHU, providing platforms for research, talent development and technology transfer. The collaboration is expected to support UP’s low-carbon energy transition while creating opportunities for Japanese technology, investment and industry partnerships in the state.
