Greenfield airport project in Uzbekistan to handle 17 million passengers annually, strengthening regional aviation connectivity Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has secured a Limited Notice to Proceed (LNTP) from the public-private partnership (PPP) consortium developing the New Tashkent International Airport in Uzbekistan. The ultra-mega project has a contractual value exceeding ₹15,000 crore, according to the company. L&T’s Public Spaces, Airports & Health business vertical will execute the passenger terminal and associated landside infrastructure under an earlier engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract. Following the LNTP, the company has begun initial engineering, detailed design, planning and procurement preparations. Full construction will commence after the remaining contractual conditions are fulfilled and the Full Notice to Proceed is issued. The project is designed to accommodate approximately 17 million passengers annually. L&T’s scope includes site grading, roads, structural works, architectural finishes, mechanical, electrical and plumbing services, utilities and advanced airport systems. The greenfield airport is a key component of Uzbekistan’s transport infrastructure strategy, aiming to strengthen regional connectivity and establish Tashkent as a major international aviation hub linking global passenger, cargo and logistics networks.
