Sangini House, Surat – Heritage-Inspired Modern Office Building with Sustainable Design and Daylight-Filled Interiors
Sangini House in Surat, Gujarat, embodies architecture that responds to the heritage context while fostering modern urban office functionality. This eight-storied office building for the Sangini Group, established in 1984, features a flexible, column-free layout in Surat’s dense business district. Located on Canal Road, the building aims to become a real-estate hub offering modern infrastructure and a healthy lifestyle.
Conceptualized as a sculptural manifestation, the design emphasizes dynamic forms, daylight, and environmental responsiveness. A distinctive stone skin with three-dimensional perforations wraps the core, providing shade and creating a five-floor high entrance atrium. The building’s spatial planning reflects the hierarchy of the family business, with a small floor plate segregated from the vertical core containing lifts and a staircase.
The interiors mirror the architectural intent, using raw, natural finishes and exposed concrete to maintain a contemporary industrial feel. Sustainability features include rainwater harvesting, drip irrigation, radiant floors, and advanced ventilation systems, targeting a green platinum rating. Sangini House stands as a modern epitome of urban culture, environmental sensitivity, and heritage-inspired design.
