GPS Renewables Wins EPC Contract for India’s First Ethanol-to-Jet SAF Plant.

GPS Renewables has secured an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) mandate from NTPC Ltd to build India’s first ethanol-to-jet (ETJ) sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) plant in Andhra Pradesh. The facility will be located at NTPC Green Energy Ltd’s green hydrogen hub in Pudimadaka. The plant is designed to produce 1,800 tonnes per annum of SAF using ethanol derived from CO₂. It will use a process chain that includes ethanol-to-ethylene conversion, olefins oligomerisation and hydroprocessing to produce SAF and renewable diesel. Lummus Technology will provide the ETJ technology licence and basic engineering, while Xytel India will handle detailed engineering. GPS Renewables will lead overall execution, including procurement, construction, commissioning and operations. The project is scheduled to run until March 2029, marking a key step in India’s push towards low-carbon aviation fuels.
