Leadership transition to take effect from June 1 as company strengthens port operations.

Adani Ports Appoints Insider Niraj Bansal as CEO–Ports; Pranav Choudhary Exits.

Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone has appointed Niraj Bansal as its new CEO–Ports, effective June 1, according to a regulatory filing. He will replace Pranav Choudhary, who will step down at the end of May to pursue opportunities outside the Adani Group. Bansal, a former Indian Revenue Service officer, joined the Adani Group in October 2022 and currently serves as CEO of New Port Project Development, Maharashtra. He has earlier led Hazira Port and held key leadership roles at Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT), where he served as Deputy Chairman and later Chairman-in-charge between 2014 and 2019. During his tenure at JNPT, the port handled a record 66 million metric tonnes of cargo in FY18. Before entering the corporate sector, Bansal spent over 27 years in the IRS and retired voluntarily as Commissioner of Income Tax. The appointment signals Adani Ports’ focus on experienced leadership to drive its expanding port portfolio.
