Mecpower to Invest ₹160 Crore in 5 GWh BESS Assembly Facility in Gujarat.

Mecpower Solutions has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Gujarat government to establish a 5 GWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) assembly facility in Karjan, with a proposed investment of ₹160 crore. The new plant will manufacture battery energy storage systems for utility-scale, commercial, and industrial applications, supporting India's growing demand for energy storage driven by rapid renewable energy adoption. Managing Director Setul Shah said the investment reflects the company's commitment to expanding its clean energy portfolio while strengthening domestic manufacturing capabilities. Battery Energy Storage Systems play a critical role in storing electricity generated from renewable sources and supplying it when needed, improving grid reliability and stability. The project also aligns with Gujarat's strategy to attract clean energy investments and is expected to contribute to the state's industrial growth while supporting India's transition to a more resilient and sustainable energy ecosystem.
