Eight years after MahaRERA's inception, Maharashtra has registered over 50,000 real estate agents, with Mumbai leading at 11,800, followed by Pune (8,200) and Thane (6,700).

The MahaRERA mandates agents to undergo training and obtain certification, and in May 2024, over 20,000 registrations were suspended for non-compliance. Additionally, real estate agents must appear for a competency exam and submit half-yearly progress reports. Notably, MahaRERA has also registered over 50,000 real estate projects, with nearly half located in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region and Pune. Agents from 150 cities outside Maharashtra, including Delhi, Bengaluru, and Ahmedabad, are also registered. Maharashtra's real estate regulatory framework remains the most comprehensive in India.
