The 2nd edition of ET Infra's Roads & Highways Summit in Delhi spotlighted the evolving roadmap of India’s infrastructure growth. Key focus areas included improving the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model, embracing technology-enabled development, and constructing climate-resilient roads. Minister of State Harsh Malhotra emphasised the sector’s role in GDP growth and pollution reduction through major expressway and rural road initiatives. Officials like V. Umashankar and Rahul Kaswan addressed concerns around project awards, poor road design, and safety challenges, while Lt. Gen. Raghu Srinivasan highlighted border infrastructure achievements. Discussions also explored alternate financing through InviTs, TOT, and public-private partnerships. Industry and government stakeholders emphasised sustainability, digital innovation, and better construction standards to drive the next phase of India’s infrastructure development.
