Narendra Modi Pitches India as a Hub for Norwegian Investment in Shipping and the Green Transition.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged Norwegian companies to expand their investments in India across sectors including the blue economy, shipbuilding, the green transition, renewable energy, health-tech, critical minerals and start-ups. Speaking at the India–Norway Business and Research Summit in Oslo, Modi highlighted India’s rapid growth, rising energy demand and a strong push towards renewable energy, green hydrogen and clean infrastructure. The summit was attended by Norway’s Crown Prince Haakon and Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, along with business leaders from both countries. Modi praised Norway’s global leadership in clean energy, maritime decarbonisation and climate finance, and urged deeper partnerships to meet the $100 billion investment target under the Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA). Several agreements and MoUs were signed, including a cooperation agreement between the Indian Space Research Organisation and the Norwegian Space Agency, as well as initiatives in digital health and green technologies. The discussions underscored growing bilateral momentum and a shared commitment to sustainable development and innovation.
