The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways has abolished immigration procedures for Indian national crew members and supernumeraries serving on Indian-flag vessels engaged in coastal trade. Under the new office memorandum, immigration formalities will no longer be required for sign-on, sign-off or shore leave passes for these personnel. Going forward, shore access for Indian national crew and supernumeraries on Indian-flag coastal vessels will be regulated directly by the respective port authorities.
