Australia Finalises Uranium Export Deal with India for Peaceful Nuclear Energy.

Australia and India have finalised the administrative arrangements enabling the export of Australian uranium to India for exclusively peaceful nuclear purposes under the 2015 Australia–India Nuclear Cooperation Agreement. Announcing the milestone alongside Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said the agreement marks a significant step in strengthening bilateral energy and strategic ties. Uranium exports will be governed by International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) safeguards, ensuring peaceful use. Beyond nuclear cooperation, both nations reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing energy security, strengthening resilient supply chains, promoting renewable energy, and accelerating the clean energy transition. The two countries also pledged to expand cooperation through the Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (ECTA) and ongoing negotiations for a Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (CECA). The partnership will support investments across the energy value chain, encourage private sector collaboration, and ensure reliable supplies of critical energy resources while advancing sustainable growth across the Indo-Pacific region.
