20-MW Solar Plant to Come Up at Tizit in Nagaland.

Nagaland’s first private solar IPP could strengthen renewable generation, local jobs and grid reliability.

Nagaland’s Power Department has signed a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Tvaksas Renewable Pvt Ltd to develop a 20-MW solar power plant at Tizit in Mon district. The project, proposed at Lapa Lampong village, is being described as the state’s first private solar Independent Power Producer (IPP) project. The Phase I project is expected to be commissioned within 20 months and will supply electricity at a fixed tariff of ₹4.12 per kWh, approved by the Nagaland Electricity Regulatory Commission. The plant is expected to increase Nagaland’s renewable-energy capacity, support renewable consumption obligations and improve grid reliability in the remote Mon region. The state’s peak power demand is currently around 203 MW and is projected to reach 482 MW by 2034-35, highlighting the need for additional generation capacity. Tvaksas Renewable plans to scale the project to 100 MW in phases, potentially creating jobs, developing local skills and attracting further clean-energy investment to Nagaland.
