Jindal Steel has commissioned its first coated galvanising line (CGL 1) at the Angul plant in Odisha as part of its expansion strategy.
The new unit will enhance supply of galvanised and galvalume steel products under the Jindal Panther Galvanised and ZINKALUME brands, catering to sectors such as appliances, automotive, infrastructure, and construction. CGL 1 can process steel thicknesses ranging from 0.15 mm to 1.50 mm and widths from 700 mm to 1,400 mm, enabling consistent output for diverse industrial applications. The line will also produce thinner hot rolled galvanised coils for pre-engineered buildings and high-strength steel for automotive underbody parts. Chairman Naveen Jindal highlighted that the commissioning reflects the company’s focus on delivering industry-specific steel solutions. This development is part of Jindal Steel’s plan to ramp up the Angul plant's capacity from 6 MTPA to 12 MTPA, with a vision to expand it to 24 MTPA—making it the world’s largest single-location steel facility.
