InvITs and TOT to drive highway asset monetisation.
NHAI Confident of Meeting National Monetisation Pipeline 2.0 Targets.
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has sufficient assets to achieve monetisation targets under the National Monetisation Pipeline (NMP) 2.0, senior officials said. Under the programme, highway assets worth around ₹24.14 lakh crore, spanning nearly 21,300 km, will be monetised between FY 2025-26 and FY 2029-30 using both Toll-Operate-Transfer (TOT) and Infrastructure Investment Trust (InvIT) routes. Speaking ahead of the IPO of Raajmarg Infra Investment Trust (RIIT), NHAI Member (Finance) Rajendra Kumar said both public InvITs like RIIT and private InvITs such as National Highways Infra Trust (NHIT) will play a key role in unlocking value from road assets. NHAI has already raised over ₹7.4 lakh crore through multiple InvIT rounds. Meanwhile, NHAI Chairman Santosh Kumar Yadav noted that new project awards have slowed as the authority adopts a cautious approach, awarding projects only after key clearances are secured, while the government works to revamp the BOT (Toll) framework to revive private sector interest.
