SCO Summit 2025: PM Modi Calls for a United Stand Against Terrorism, Stresses Sovereignty in Connectivity.

At the 25th Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in Tianjin, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged member nations to adopt a clear, united stance against terrorism, stressing that “no double standards are acceptable.” Referring to the April Pahalgam attack, he said India had endured four decades of terrorism and called the incident an “open challenge to humanity.” The Tianjin Declaration echoed his concerns, condemning the attack and reaffirming the SCO’s commitment to counterterrorism. On connectivity, Modi emphasised that projects must respect sovereignty to build trust. Highlighting the Chabahar Port and the International North-South Transport Corridor, he positioned them as platforms to strengthen trade with Afghanistan and Central Asia. He also proposed a “Civilisation Dialogue Forum” to enhance cultural ties and invited members to join India’s “Reform, Perform, Transform” journey. Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin underscored regional peace, AI cooperation, and efforts to resolve global conflicts, reinforcing the SCO’s growing role in global geopolitics.
