Global Maritime Power Meets Indian Expertise to Reinvent Ship Repairs.

Cochin Shipyard, Drydocks World to Form 50:50 JV for India’s First Ship Repair Cluster.

Cochin Shipyard Ltd (CSL) will form a 50:50 joint venture with Dubai’s Drydocks World, part of DP World, to develop India’s first dedicated ship repair cluster at the International Ship Repair Facility (ISRF) in Kochi. The equal-ownership model ensures the venture operates outside public sector constraints for greater efficiency and flexibility. Inspired by Petronet LNG’s structure, the JV aims to streamline ship repair operations and attract global clientele. CSL has already invested ₹1,000 crore in the ISRF, featuring a 6,000-tonne ship lift, 1,350-metre wet berth, and modern transfer systems across 8.12 hectares. The collaboration aligns with the Maritime India Vision 2030 to position Kochi as a regional ship repair hub. Combining Cochin Shipyard’s domestic experience with Drydocks World’s global expertise, the venture will enhance India’s ship repair capacity, reduce reliance on foreign drydocks, and establish Cochin as a global centre for maritime maintenance and innovation.
