Boosting Goa’s Trade with Faster, Cheaper Connectivity.
Weekly Container Feeder Service Likely to Restart at Mormugao Port.
Goa’s exporters and importers may soon benefit from the revival of weekly container feeder services at Mormugao Port, with strong interest expressed by Unifeeder and support from Delta Ports and the Mormugao Port Authority. The proposed service would directly connect Mormugao to Mundra Port, a key transhipment hub linking to Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. The initiative promises to cut road transport costs by up to 70% for manufacturers and save 7–10 days in transit time, compared to current routes through Mumbai’s Nhava Sheva Port, which is facing congestion and container shortages. Cargo potential will be tapped not only from Goa but also from Belagavi and nearby regions, helping scale up frequency based on volumes. Mormugao Port has assured dedicated berthing windows and possible concessions for feeder vessels to ensure efficiency. The move marks a crucial step in strengthening Goa’s multi-modal logistics ecosystem and global trade connectivity.
