Cabinet Approves ₹15,900 Crore Highway Expansion Across Three States.

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved highway widening and upgradation projects worth over ₹15,900 crore across Bihar, Telangana and Madhya Pradesh, covering more than 560 km. The projects will be implemented under BOT (Toll) and Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM) frameworks to improve regional connectivity and logistics efficiency. In Telangana, key stretches of NH-63 and NH-563 spanning about 191 km will be widened to four lanes, easing congestion in several towns and cutting travel time by up to 1.5 hours. In Bihar, the Khagaria–Purnea corridor across 143.5 km will be upgraded, improving safety and reducing travel time to nearly two hours. Madhya Pradesh will see corridor improvements enhancing access to PM Gati Shakti economic nodes and logistics hubs. Overall, the projects are expected to strengthen freight movement, reduce fuel consumption, improve road safety, and generate over 190 lakh person-days of direct and indirect employment.
