1.5 MW solar project to ensure reliable electricity and cut carbon emissions for 25 years.
Pilibhit Medical College and District Hospitals Switch to Solar Power.
The Autonomous State Medical College (ASMC), along with its affiliated district hospital and district women’s hospital in Pilibhit, has begun operating on solar energy after commissioning a 1.5 MW solar photovoltaic (PV) project. Implemented under the Renewable Energy Service Company (RESCO) model, the project aims to ensure uninterrupted power supply, particularly for intensive care units (ICUs) and other critical healthcare services. According to ASMC Principal Sangeeta Aneja, the solar installation will remain operational for 25 years, with maintenance and repairs handled by the service provider at no additional cost. Officials said the plant will generate around 7,000–7,500 units of electricity daily, meeting the hospitals’ total power demand while significantly reducing carbon emissions. OMC Power Private Ltd was awarded the project by the state government, and the system’s performance will be reviewed every three months.
