Soaring Higher: Building India’s Next Global Aviation Hub.
Adani Group Plans ₹30,000 Crore Phase-2 Expansion of Navi Mumbai International Airport.
The Adani Group is preparing for the Phase-2 expansion of the Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) with an additional investment of ₹30,000 crore, following its inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 8 October. The airport, scheduled to commence operations this December, has already seen ₹20,000 crore invested in its first phase, which includes a single runway capable of handling 20 million passengers annually. The second phase, expected to be completed by 2029, will increase capacity by 30 million passengers, add a major cargo terminal, and feature India’s largest MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul) facility with five hangars. Funded through a combination of debt and equity, the project will bolster Navi Mumbai’s role as a key centre for aviation and logistics. Enhanced connectivity through the Atal Setu, metro extensions, and a proposed high-speed rail link will make NMIA one of India’s most advanced and accessible airports.
