“Powering India’s growth with bigger capacity, stronger output.”
Jindal Steel Targets 12 MT Crude Steel Output in FY26 with Angul Blast Furnace.
Jindal Steel is eyeing crude steel production of 12 million tonnes (MT) in FY26, supported by the commissioning of its new 4 MT blast furnace at Angul, Odisha. Chairman Naveen Jindal announced at the ISA Steel Conclave that the furnace — the company’s largest — will be operational in September, significantly boosting output from 8.1 MT recorded last year. Jindal credited government support for helping India emerge as the world’s second-largest steel producer and consumer, while emphasising the need for greater raw material availability at competitive prices. He urged the government to auction more iron ore mines and address high logistics costs caused by rail cross-subsidisation. On trade, Jindal noted that US tariffs have little impact due to already high duties, while safeguard measures are protecting India from cheap Chinese steel imports. Looking ahead, he reiterated the industry’s ambition to reach 300 MT of steelmaking capacity by 2030.
