Vikram Solar Shifts Expansion to Tamil Nadu, Targets 17.5 GW Capacity by FY27.
Vikram Solar Ltd, one of India’s leading solar panel manufacturers, is shifting its expansion focus to Tamil Nadu as it ramps up its capacity to 17.5 GW of solar modules and 12 GW of solar cells by FY27. Currently, the company operates 4.5 GW of module capacity, including 3.5 GW at Falta SEZ in West Bengal and 1.3 GW at Oragadam near Chennai. The bulk of new projects will be set up at Vallam and Gangaikondan in Tamil Nadu, where a large integrated solar cell and module facility is planned with significant capex. Tamil Nadu has committed subsidies worth ₹900 crore for the projects. Meanwhile, West Bengal will see limited expansion, with ₹400 crore being invested to add 2 GW at the Falta unit. The ₹2,079.4 crore IPO, already oversubscribed 4.4 times, along with debt and PLI incentives, will fund the expansion, strengthening Vikram Solar’s integrated ecosystem.
