Nation Positions Itself as a Global Hub for Green Hydrogen Exports

India Targets 10% Share of Global Green Hydrogen Market by 2030.

India is charting an ambitious path to secure 10% of global green hydrogen demand by 2030, aiming to become a key exporter in the clean energy transition. With global demand projected to exceed 100 million metric tonnes, the government has already awarded 862,000 tonnes per year of production capacity to 19 companies under the National Green Hydrogen Mission. Additionally, 3,000 MW of electrolyser manufacturing capacity has been allocated to 15 firms. Minister of State for Power and Renewable Energy Shripad Naik highlighted India’s intent to emerge not only as a producer but also as a reliable global supplier. Industry leaders note that falling costs are accelerating adoption, with green hydrogen already outpricing blue in global tenders. Strengthening international partnerships, the EU has pledged deeper cooperation through the India-EU Green Hydrogen Forum, reinforcing India’s position at the forefront of the global green energy revolution.
