In a major step to reduce pollution in Nag River, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari have directed the swift construction of two Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) at VNIT and PDKV in Nagpur.
Fadnavis proposed adopting the compact, high-capacity Dharavi model for efficient sewage treatment, while Gadkari urged TCS to promptly submit a technical report for speedy implementation. The STPs aim to curb the flow of untreated sewage into the river, improving water quality and public health. The leaders also reviewed Nagpur’s broader infrastructure progress, including concerns over low-pressure water supply and the integrated traffic management system. Six teams are working to restore non-functional CCTV cameras, with full operational readiness expected within two months. Fadnavis called for a new Detailed Project Report (DPR) accounting for Nagpur's future growth and ordered immediate restoration of roads dug up for utility work. The meeting was attended by senior government and civic officials.
