ReNew Energy Slashes Solar Module and Cell Prices Following GST Cut to 5%.

ReNew Energy Global Plc has reduced the prices of its solar modules and cells following the GST Council’s decision to cut the tax rate on renewable energy products from 12% to 5%, effective September 22. The company stated that the move will make solar power more affordable for utility-scale developers, rooftop users, and farmers, particularly under schemes such as PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana and PM-KUSUM. Announcing the price reductions, Sumant Sinha, Founder, Chairman and CEO of ReNew, said, “As India’s largest integrated solar manufacturer, we believe this move will catalyse adoption across all segments, from large-scale projects to household rooftops and agricultural users.” ReNew, which manages a clean energy portfolio of 18.2 GW as of August 2025, is among the largest renewable players globally. The GST reduction, combined with ReNew’s price cuts, is expected to speed up India’s transition to green energy.
