HC flags favouritism fears as Pune land deal controversy deepens.
Bombay HC Questions Police Probe: ‘Is Parth Pawar Being Shielded in Pune Land Deal?
The Bombay High Court has raised serious concerns over the police investigation into the controversial ₹300-crore Pune land deal, questioning whether authorities are protecting Parth Pawar, son of Deputy CM Ajit Pawar. Justice Madhav Jamdar asked why Parth, the majority partner in Amadea Enterprises LLP—the buyer of the 40-acre Mundhwa plot—was not named in the FIR, despite others being accused. The land, later found to be government-owned Maharwatan property, cannot legally be sold, and the firm was allegedly exempted from ₹21 crore in stamp duty. Accused businesswoman Sheetal Tejwani, arrested by Pune Police’s Economic Offences Wing, sought anticipatory bail after a second FIR was filed. Her counsel argued the case lacked criminal intent and was a civil matter. Amid political backlash, Ajit Pawar stated that Parth was unaware of the land’s status, and the deal has since been cancelled.
