Goa PWD Begins Repairs on ₹27.1 Crore Seraulim-Colva Road.
₹27.1 Crore Road, Yet Potholes Return—Repairs Underway.
The Goa Public Works Department (PWD) has started repairing potholes on the two-kilometre Seraulim-Colva road stretch, constructed at a cost of ₹27.1 crore. The action follows concerns over the deteriorating road surface, which had made driving hazardous, particularly for two-wheeler riders. PWD Assistant Engineer Leslie Colaco said workers are removing loose soil around the potholes before filling them. Officials will also check whether a possible water pipeline leakage contributed to the road damage. The project was initially estimated at around ₹16 crore in 2016, with an additional ₹11.1 crore sanctioned in 2018 for enhancements including dividers, hot-mixing and street lighting. Despite being hot-mixed only two to three years ago, the road developed potholes again after excavation for an LPG pipeline. Residents have also raised concerns about roadside encroachments, commercial activity, parked vehicles and blocked drains and footpaths, which are worsening traffic congestion.
