Telangana, German Delegation Explore Solar Expansion to Power Farms and Homes

Telangana aims to strengthen its power sector by increasing solar energy use, with an emphasis on supporting agriculture and household consumers. Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka met with a German delegation led by Dr Sebastian and Dr Raghu Chaliganti on Thursday to discuss collaboration prospects in solar power generation and technology. The Deputy CM noted that the state currently supplies free electricity to 29 lakh agricultural pump sets and offers up to 200 units of free power under the Gruha Jyothi scheme. Telangana now intends to supply solar power to these sectors, allowing farmers and Gruha Jyothi beneficiaries to earn a reliable monthly income through solar initiatives. Vikramarka instructed Principal Secretary Navin Mittal to examine German solar technologies and assess their potential to enhance Telangana’s power reliability and economic sustainability.
