BARVL Partners with France’s XtreeE to Establish India’s Robotic 3D Construction Printing Platform
BARVL partners with France’s XtreeE to establish India’s robotic 3D construction printing platform, with commissioning planned for Q2 2027 in Gurugram.
New Delhi, October 27, 2026: Balaji Anant Raj Ventures Ltd. (BARVL) has partnered with XtreeE SAS, France, to bring Europe's advanced robotic 3D construction printing ecosystem (3DCP) to India, marking a significant industrial deployment of the technology in the country. The system will be housed and operated under Astraya, BARVL's knowledge infrastructure platform. The agreement covers the supply, commissioning and technology transfer of XtreeE's robotic construction printing technology. The initial deployment includes one complete robotic printing cell, with infrastructure designed to scale to four systems.
Robotic 3D Construction Printing Technology
The printing cell is built around XtreeE's proprietary xHEAD print head, extrusion and control system, integrated with a six-axis industrial robotic arm and material-handling capabilities. The technology enables large-format printing of complex concrete geometries without conventional formwork, including facade elements, structural components and non-standard architectural forms. The system is scheduled to be commissioned in Q2 2027 at the Astraya Experience Centre in Sector 63A, Gurugram.
Building Knowledge Through Technology Transfer
Aashman Sarin, Founder of Astraya, said, “The robots are the least interesting part of what we are building. What matters is the knowledge that surrounds them. The material research, the process data, the institutional memory, all of this makes each application smarter than the last. We chose XtreeE because the agreement includes technology transfer, not just equipment. Every print will generate data, every project will generate learning, and every insight will strengthen the next. That is the difference between acquiring a capability and building one.” Dominique Corvez, President and CEO of XtreeE, said, “India is one of the world's most exciting markets for construction innovation. Beyond delivering a robotic printing system, this partnership is about transferring knowledge on sustainable construction methods, building local capabilities and enabling a sustainable industrial ecosystem for digital construction. We are delighted to work with Astraya to support this long-term vision.”
The Constructory Lab: Research, Materials and Production
The Constructory Lab will bring research, material development and production together under one roof, creating a configuration that does not currently exist in Indian construction at this scale. The objective goes beyond demonstrating 3D printing. The initiative aims to build the knowledge infrastructure needed to make the technology increasingly useful across India’s construction sector. This includes understanding how printed concrete performs across different material mixes, climatic conditions and structural configurations. The lab will also focus on developing material specifications that can be transferred to subsequent projects rather than recreated from scratch, while training engineers and researchers who can carry this knowledge into the wider construction industry.
Astraya Experience Centre and Future Applications
Designed as a live demonstration and innovation hub, the facility will bring together material testing, robotic production and applied research. It will also provide industry professionals, academics, researchers and policymakers with first-hand exposure to next-generation construction technologies. The Experience Centre will demonstrate the technology in operation, with the building itself incorporating components printed by the system it houses. This initial deployment will precede further expansion. Once operational, the system will immediately support Astraya's residential projects, while institutional opportunities are being explored as a potential next phase.
