Access-controlled corridor to boost Nepal border connectivity and cut travel time to one hour.

Cabinet Clears ₹76,969 Crore Four-Lane NH-927 Project in Uttar Pradesh.

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved the construction of a four-lane, access-controlled stretch of National Highway 927 between Barabanki and Bahraich in Uttar Pradesh, at an estimated cost of ₹76,969 crore. The 101.5-km project will be developed under the hybrid annuity model (HAM) to improve connectivity to Nepal border regions. Part of the Lucknow–Rupaidiha corridor, the highway will link several national and state highways and include 48.28 km of bypasses to ease congestion in populated areas. Once completed, travel time between Barabanki and Bahraich is expected to reduce to about one hour, improving road safety, fuel efficiency and logistics movement. The corridor will also enhance access to the Rupaidiha land port near the India–Nepal border, strengthening cross-border trade. The project is projected to generate over 79 lakh person-days of employment and support regional economic growth in agriculture, tourism and local trade.
