₹16,200 crore investment to strengthen India’s upstream solar manufacturing.

Waaree Energies to Build India’s Largest Solar Ingot & Wafer Facility in Nagpur.

Waaree Energies has announced the groundbreaking of its 10 GW integrated solar ingot and wafer manufacturing facility at Butibori in Nagpur, marking a major milestone in India’s clean energy manufacturing push. With an investment of about ₹16,200 crore, the project is set to become the country’s largest integrated ingot and wafer manufacturing complex. Spread across nearly 300 acres, the facility will focus on producing high-purity solar ingots and wafers—critical components at the core of the solar photovoltaic value chain. Hitesh Doshi, Chairman and Managing Director of Waaree Energies, said India’s energy transition depends not only on adding renewable capacity but also on building robust domestic manufacturing capabilities across the entire solar ecosystem. The project was unveiled at a ceremonial event attended by Devendra Fadnavis and Nitin Gadkari. The new facility is expected to significantly reduce import dependence, enhance supply chain resilience, and support India’s long-term renewable energy goals.
