The Assam Cabinet has approved a ₹25,400 crore, 900 MW Pumped Storage Project (PSP) by Hinduja Renewables in West Karbi Anglong to enhance energy security and support renewable integration.

Aimed at achieving 2 GW PSP capacity by 2030, the project will stabilize the grid by storing power during low demand and releasing it during peak hours. Additionally, a ₹3,000 crore SEBI-registered Assam Industrial and Green Growth Fund has been launched with an anchor investment of ₹500 crore to mobilize capital for green infrastructure, startups, tourism, and MSMEs. The Cabinet also approved the 'Shradhanjali' scheme, effective from October 1, 2025, for dignified transportation of deceased Assam residents from other states. Assam Police's SB branch will be the nodal agency. Furthermore, the Cabinet declared Urpad Beel (1,256 ha) and Hasila Beel (245 ha) in Goalpara as Proposed Reserve Forests to boost biodiversity conservation, inviting public feedback within one month.
