Renewable energy manufacturing takes centre stage in India’s clean growth strategy.

Government Dedicates 200 MW Solar Manufacturing Line, Boosting India’s Net-Zero Push.

The Government has dedicated a 200 MW Solar Module Manufacturing Line of Central Electronics Limited (CEL) to the nation, marking a major milestone in India’s clean energy manufacturing journey. Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Jitendra Singh said renewable energy will be central to India’s economic growth and its ambition to achieve net-zero emissions by 2070. Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Singh highlighted that the new facility strengthens indigenous manufacturing capabilities and reinforces India’s focus on non-fossil energy sources such as solar, wind, nuclear and ocean-based systems, under the leadership of Narendra Modi. The event was attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Science and Technology, CSIR and CEL. Recalling CEL’s legacy, Singh noted that India’s first solar cell and solar plant were developed by the organisation in the late 1970s. The commissioning underscores CEL’s transformation into a profitable Mini Ratna enterprise and signals growing confidence in domestic renewable energy manufacturing.
