Tripura Surpasses 15 MW Rooftop Solar Capacity Under PM Surya Ghar Scheme.

Tripura has crossed a major renewable energy milestone by achieving 15.3 MW of installed rooftop solar capacity under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, strengthening the state’s transition towards decentralised and sustainable power generation. As of July 27, 2026, the scheme has received 17,330 registrations, with 7,846 applications submitted for a proposed capacity of 24,733 kWp. Rooftop solar systems have already been installed in 4,460 households, enabling consumers to generate electricity for personal use while exporting surplus power to the grid through net metering. The initiative has also delivered significant financial benefits, with 3,853 consumers receiving subsidies worth over ₹32.52 crore. During the April–June 2026 quarter, 1,679 households reduced their electricity bills to zero and collectively became eligible to earn ₹15.79 lakh by selling excess electricity. The scheme is accelerating Tripura’s shift toward clean, affordable, and self-reliant energy.
