New solar project ensures reliable daytime electricity for agriculture across nine villages.
Nagpur Commissions First 4-MW Solar Park to Power 1,074 Farmers.
Nagpur district has commissioned its first 4-MW solar park at the 33/11-KV Kachari Sawanga substation in Katol taluka, providing uninterrupted daytime electricity to 1,074 farmers across nine villages. Developed under the Maharashtra Chief Minister Solar Agricultural Feeder 2.0 Scheme, the project will supply eight hours of daytime power for agricultural pumps, reducing farmers' dependence on night-time electricity for irrigation. The solar park serves villages including Ridhora, Khapri Kutumba, Ghartwada, Gujar Khedi, Sabkund, Kokarda, Kachari Sawanga, Borkhedi, and Panchdhar. Officials estimate the project cost at ₹10–12 crore, with the land leased by MSEDCL for 25 years and electricity procured through a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). By locating the solar park close to the substation, transmission losses are minimised while ensuring a reliable, sustainable power supply. MSEDCL plans to develop more such solar parks across Nagpur to expand clean, daytime electricity access for farmers.
