Hafele India Installs World’s Tallest Movable Wall at ONGC Convention Centre in Goa
Hafele India has achieved a major engineering milestone with the successful installation of the world’s tallest movable wall at the ONGC Convention & Exhibition Centre.
The installation stands 22 metres tall and spans 48.1 metres in width, marking a significant advancement in large-scale architectural and interior infrastructure solutions. Designed to support dynamic convention and exhibition requirements, the movable wall enables seamless transformation of large-format spaces while maintaining high levels of acoustic performance and operational flexibility.
The system delivers 57 dB sound insulation, allowing simultaneous events and activities to be conducted with minimal sound interference. Built using 1500 mm wide panels, the movable wall has been engineered for smooth movement, stability, and efficient space reconfiguration based on operational needs.
According to Frank Schloeder, the project reflects Hafele India’s capability to execute highly complex and high-performance infrastructure projects at scale. He described the installation as a strong example of the company’s Co-Creation and Co-Engineering philosophy, where multiple stakeholders collaborate to deliver customised and technically advanced solutions.
Ashish Aundhkar said the project required extensive planning and coordination across technical and execution teams. He noted that the system incorporates a precision track-switching mechanism to ensure reliable panel movement and effective sealing performance despite the structure’s large span and height.
The project was developed through collaboration between C. P. Kukreja Architects, Engineers India Limited, VRC, and Hafele India.
Hafele described the project as a benchmark example of its “Maximising the Value of Space. Together” philosophy, combining engineering precision, spatial adaptability, and acoustic efficiency for next-generation convention infrastructure.
The installation also opens possibilities for future phases involving similar advanced interior and architectural systems within large infrastructure and institutional projects across India.
