Court warns of commissioner’s personal appearance over non-compliance

Rajasthan HC Gives Housing Board Three Weeks to Remove Illegal Sanganer Colonies.

The Rajasthan High Court has granted the Rajasthan Housing Board three weeks to comply with its earlier directive to clear 87 illegal colonies in Sanganer. Hearing the matter, the court reiterated its August 20, 2025 order and issued a stern warning that failure to act within the stipulated timeframe would require the personal appearance of the housing board commissioner before the court. The order was uploaded on Wednesday. The case arose from a petition filed by Public Against Corruption, which highlighted concerns over a March 12, 2025, state government decision seeking to regularise colonies developed on land legally acquired by the housing board but later encroached upon by illegal occupants. The petitioner argued that such regularisation undermines the rule of law and legitimises encroachments on public land. Taking a firm view, the High Court emphasised strict compliance and signalled zero tolerance toward continued inaction by authorities.
