Zydex Paints has introduced India’s first silicate mineral paint technology, aiming to transform the domestic paints market with breathable, durable and moisture-resistant wall protection solutions designed for Indian climatic conditions.

The launch comes at a time when Indian buildings continue to face recurring challenges during monsoon seasons, including damp walls, seepage, peeling paint, algae growth and surface deterioration caused by trapped moisture and high humidity. The company says its silicate mineral paint technology offers a long-term alternative to conventional coatings by chemically bonding with wall substrates rather than merely forming a surface film.

According to industry estimates cited by the company, India’s paints market is currently valued at around ₹93,000 crore, with growing demand for performance-driven and sustainable building materials. Silicate paints already account for an estimated 2% market share in Europe, and similar adoption trends in India could create a market opportunity worth nearly ₹2,000 crore.

Unlike traditional paints, the silicate mineral paint system creates a breathable surface that allows trapped vapour to escape, helping reduce dampness, peeling and moisture-related surface damage. The technology is positioned as particularly relevant for Indian buildings exposed to extreme weather conditions, humidity and water ingress.

Dr Ajay Ranka, Chairman and MD of Zydex Group, said the construction industry is increasingly shifting toward durable and sustainable materials that deliver long-term protection and lifecycle value. He added that the company sees strong growth potential for silicate mineral paint technology in India, supported by increasing acceptance among architects, builders and consumers.

Moulik Ranka highlighted the role of research and development in addressing construction challenges related to moisture and structural deterioration. He stated that the company expects around 50% year-on-year growth driven by demand for innovative paint and waterproofing technologies.

The company’s portfolio includes interior and exterior silicate mineral paints engineered to resist harsh sunlight, rainfall, humidity and weathering while offering features such as fade resistance, low dirt pickup and no peeling. For indoor applications, Zydex offers ultra-low VOC, no-odour paint systems designed to improve indoor air quality, washability and fire resistance.

In addition to paints, the company also provides nanotechnology-based waterproofing solutions for terraces, balconies, bathrooms, swimming pools, roofs and other moisture-prone surfaces. Together, the integrated portfolio aims to improve long-term building performance while reducing maintenance requirements.
