TNGECL Resumes Issuing NOCs for Stalled Solar Projects, Boosting Tamil Nadu's Green Energy Push.

Tamil Nadu Green Energy Corporation Limited (TNGECL) has resumed issuing No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for solar projects that had been on hold following a government review of approval procedures. The move follows the Madras High Court's interim stay on the state's decision to suspend project clearances. Earlier, Electricity and Law Minister R. Nirmalkumar ordered a review of approvals, alleging irregularities in the sanctioning process, which led to the suspension of several TNGECL officials. As a result, 226 solar projects with a combined capacity of 736.5 MW and seven wind projects totalling 400 MW were delayed. TNGECL has now withdrawn the abeyance orders and directed developers to comply with Central Electricity Authority (CEA) regulations before processing applications. The Renewable Energy Producers Association (REPA) welcomed the decision, saying it will accelerate Tamil Nadu's renewable energy capacity while urging the government to introduce a transparent online approval portal for future projects.
