Maharashtra Cabinet Approves Major Slum Redevelopment and Sustainability Initiative for Mumbai.

The Maharashtra Cabinet has approved a comprehensive scheme for redeveloping slum clusters in Mumbai, aiming to transform slum areas into integrated housing projects with modern amenities and better infrastructure. Managed by the Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA), the initiative aims to speed up large-scale redevelopment, attract private investment, and generate employment in the construction sector, thereby boosting Mumbai’s economy. Additionally, the Cabinet approved a state-wide policy on sewage treatment and reuse for 424 urban local bodies to promote a circular economy and sustainable growth. Other important approvals include land allocation in Amravati for an e-bus depot under the PM-E Bus Scheme, expansion of the MACP scheme to non-teaching staff in aided ashram schools, creation of a senior civil court at Akole, and amendments to land laws to prevent fragmentation. These measures demonstrate the government’s commitment to urban renewal, clean mobility, and fair development across Maharashtra.
