Nitin Gadkari Pushes Alternative Fuels and Innovation in the Construction Sector.

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has called for greater adoption of alternative fuels, innovation and sustainable practices in India’s construction sector to support long-term infrastructure growth. Addressing the 17th CIDC Vishwakarma Awards and Exhibition Viksit Bharat 2047 in New Delhi, Gadkari said innovation, science, technology and research are vital to convert knowledge into economic value. He stressed the need to reduce construction costs by adopting modern technologies and improved processes to enhance efficiency and project execution. Faster decision-making, better planning and a strong focus on quality were essential, he said, adding that land acquisition and statutory clearances should be completed in advance to avoid delays. On sustainability, Gadkari urged the use of biofuels, biomass-based fuels and waste-to-wealth technologies, including plastic waste and used tyres in road construction. Citing successful projects in Nagpur, he highlighted the potential of sustainable materials. He also noted that maintaining high-quality standards would strengthen the global reputation of Indian infrastructure companies executing projects worldwide.
