Status quo to continue as Telangana High Court probes alleged fabricated judicial order.
Supreme Court Halts Activity on 100 Acres of Disputed Land in Shamshabad
The Supreme Court has instructed private parties claiming ownership of 100 acres of disputed land in Shamshabad and Paigah village in Ranga Reddy district to cease all construction and refrain from selling, transferring, or encumbering the property until the Telangana High Court reaches a decision on the pending appeal. The order was issued by a bench of Justices M.M. Sundresh and Satish Chandra Sharma during a hearing of a petition filed by Mohammad Taher Khan, who has challenged HMDA’s claim over the land. HMDA asserts that the land was acquired in the 1990s and that compensation was increased following a Supreme Court order in 2009. The Telangana High Court previously highlighted significant irregularities after noting that a judicial order relied upon by Khan was allegedly fabricated. In April 2025, the HC ordered the registration of an FIR and the formation of a special investigation team, while maintaining the status quo. The Supreme Court, refusing to intervene further, upheld these restrictions, emphasising that no activity may take place on the land until the High Court’s final ruling.
