GRSE Expands Horizons with New Shipyards in Gujarat and West Bengal.

Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd (GRSE), the Kolkata-based defence shipyard, is gearing up for a larger role in India’s shipbuilding sector. The Mumbai-listed yard will sign multiple MoUs on September 20 to establish greenfield facilities at Kandla and Ratanpar in Gujarat, and Raichak in West Bengal. At Kandla, GRSE will partner with Deendayal Port Authority to develop a massive 2,000-acre integrated shipbuilding cluster capable of constructing oil supertankers and very large crude carriers. In Bhavnagar, it will collaborate with Dempo Group’s Modest Infrastructure to set up a 40-acre yard at Ratanpar, designed to build vessels up to 45,000 dwt. Additionally, GRSE will join hands with the Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port Authority to create a new facility at Raichak, while also partnering Shipping Corporation of India for local ship orders after a decade. An MoU with the Indian Port Rail & Ropeway Corporation will focus on building eco-friendly green tugs.
