Maharashtra Sets Up High-Powered Panel for SVP Nagar Redevelopment in Andheri.
The Maharashtra government has formed a high-powered committee to oversee the ambitious redevelopment of 4,973 flats across 498 plots in Andheri’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel (SVP) Nagar Colony. Headed by Additional Chief Secretary (Housing) Aseem Gupta, the panel includes MHADA Vice President and CEO Sanjeev Jaiswal, BMC officials, and other housing authorities. The project, approved by the state cabinet, will be executed through a construction and development (CD) agency selected via tender. The agency will handle resident rehabilitation, monthly rent, alternative accommodation, and infrastructure upgrades. Since it is a cluster redevelopment, individual building redevelopment proposals will not be entertained, and resident consent letters are not required. A grievance redressal committee will also be established to address local issues and ensure smooth progress. The high-powered committee will review the project’s progress every four months, ensuring timely implementation and improved living conditions for thousands of Andheri residents.
