34-Day Oran Land Protest Ends in Historic Victory for Jaisalmer!

After 34 days of steadfast protest, the people of Jaisalmer have achieved a historic win — the administration has agreed to register nearly one lakh bighas of Oran-Gochar land within three months. This includes over 17,500 bighas of sacred Oran lands, protecting vital ecosystems, heritage sites, and traditional water sources. The agreement ensures that Gochar lands, rivers, ponds, and monuments will be surveyed and officially recorded, safeguarding Rajasthan’s cultural and ecological legacy.  The administration also pledged to prioritise regions eyed for solar and cement projects, ensuring responsible development that respects tradition and sustainability. This landmark decision represents a powerful step toward conservation, community rights, and heritage preservation.
