Govt to Revive 40 GW Stalled Green Projects with Battery Storage: Joshi.

Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi announced that the Centre will revive nearly 40 GW of stalled renewable energy projects by pairing them with large battery storage systems, ensuring round-the-clock power supply. Speaking at the ET Energy Leadership Summit 2025, he highlighted that India’s electricity demand is set to double within a decade, making capacity expansion urgent. The government is upgrading electricity markets, strengthening inter-state transmission, and addressing delays caused by state-run utilities' hesitating to sign PPAs. Joshi also emphasised reducing regulatory hurdles, urging the Central Electricity Authority to ease compliance. By integrating stalled projects with advanced storage, India aims to boost reliability, accelerate renewable adoption, and meet its ambitious 500 GW non-fossil fuel capacity target by 2030.
