“Powering Defence with the Sun — Towards a Net-Zero Future.”
DRDO Partners with SECI to Develop 300 MW Solar Energy Projects Across India.
The Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) to develop 300 MW of solar-based renewable energy projects across its establishments nationwide. The collaboration, announced at DRDO Bhawan in New Delhi, was attended by Dr Samir V. Kamat, Chairman DRDO, and Santosh Kumar Sarangi, IAS, Secretary, MNRE. This initiative aligns with DRDO’s vision to achieve self-reliant, Net-Zero campuses by 2027, supporting India’s broader clean energy and sustainability goals. The partnership underscores the synergy between defence innovation and renewable energy advancement, marking a key step toward sustainable infrastructure in strategic defence locations. The move follows DRDO’s recent strides in technological self-reliance, including the launch of the Indian Radio Software Architecture (IRSA) for interoperable military communication.
