PM Modi Unveils ₹33,500 Crore Infrastructure Blitz for Delhi.
Capital Transformation: Modern housing and green office hubs enhance Delhi’s urban importance.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched a significant ₹33,500-crore development programme to upgrade Delhi’s urban landscape. Central to this initiative is the General Pool Residential Accommodation (GPRA) redevelopment, which replaces ageing colonies across seven key areas, including Sarojini Nagar and Netaji Nagar, with sustainable high-density complexes. The Prime Minister opened 2,700 new government flats and laid the foundation for 6,600 more, alongside the ambitious Bharat Business Park. This commercial centre will feature eco-friendly infrastructure, such as solar rooftops and EV charging stations, utilising a self-financing model to fund residential upgrades. Beyond housing, the projects include major metro expansions and electric bus deployments. Executed by NBCC and CPWD, the redevelopment has already created 3.55 crore man-days of employment, signalling a shift towards a more efficient, transit-oriented, and climate-resilient national capital.
